RED LENTIL FACE MASK

Have you ever used a red lentil face mask? Probably not. Because its not that common. But trust me if you use this you will thank me later on. A very simple, easy diy face pack which makes your skin glow like light.

Ingredients of the  Red Lentil Mask:

  • Red Lentil (soaked overnight)
  • Turmeric
  • Sandalwood Powder
  • Rose water/Milk

Benefits of the ingredients:

  • Red Lentil–  It is one of the best natural exfoliants available. This is extremely useful to remove tan, pigmentation, age spots etc. Red lentil or masoor dal , as we call in India, is extremely good for your skin. all the oily skin people out there, go for red lentil face mask. Its a blessing for you.
  • Turmeric–  Best natural antiseptic that I know of. Turmeric, especially if you can get hold of wild turmeric or kasturi manjal, is the one of the best source for skin care. Curcumin, present in turmeric helps to lighten dark spots as well as reduce pigmentation on your skin.
  • Sandalwood Powder– Here, in India, sandalwood powder or paste is widely used for skincare. Not only it lends a nice fragrance which is soothing by the way, it has immense good skin healing properties. It is rich in anti-oxidant properties, makes your skin soft and supple, reduces dryness and maintains the elasticity of your skin. Thus usage of sandalwood powder or paste can make your skin look younger and brighter.
  • Rose Water– Pure distilled rose water has got anti-inflammatory properties. It is very soothing for your skin and is widely used for treating acne infected skin to reduce redness and irritation.
  • Milk- Milk is also anti-inflammatory in nature and moreover, it contains retinol, which is anti ageing also. It helps in reducing dark spots on your skin and makes your skin soft and supple.

Process of making the Red Lentil Mask :

  • Take 2 to 3 tea spoon full of red lentil or masoor dal. Wash it and soak it overnight. In the morning, you will find that the lentils have swollen in size. Make a paste of this red lentil.
  • In the paste, add half a teaspoon of turmeric. You can use regular turmeric or if you can find, then use kasturi manjal or wild turmeric for optimum benefit.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of sandalwood powder. Or for best results, you can use sandalwood paste also.
  •  If you have oily and acne prone skin, then  add 2 teaspoon of rose water to smoothen the paste. The paste should not be lumpy.
  • The other alternative for rose water is cold milk. Add milk if you have normal to dry skin.

How to Apply:

  • The process is pretty much same as all simple home -made face masks.
  • Wash your face with a mild face wash so that it is not greasy or dirty.
  • remove any make-up if you have any.
  • Apply the paste all over  face and neck. Avoid your eye area.
  • Let it dry for about 20 minutes.
  • You will feel a little stretch on your skin when this mask dries up.
  • Wash your face with lukewarm water .
  • Apply toner and moisturise as usual.

Apply this mask twice a week for best results. If you mix besan or gramflour with this mask, you can use it as a natural body scrubber also.
